What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

Our contact form collects your name, email address, phone number, region and IP address. We use this information to respond to your inquiries, but not for marketing purposes. If you opt in to receive the Marketing Works Newsletter, we use your region to send you location-specific updates about events of interest to communicators.

Our newsletter subscription form for Measurement Works collects your name, email address, and region and sends it to our email service provider, Constant Contact. Subscribers to the newsletter receive a newsletter full of articles aimed at organizational communicators with a need to measure the effectiveness of their communication programs, and location-specific updates about relevant events.

The Ask Angela form collects your name, email address, and optionally your job title and the company you work for, in order to give you credit for your question if you provide permission to publish the response on the website.  You will not be subscribed to the Measurement Works newsletter unless you check the box requesting it.

Form data is collected in the website database and emailed to Angela. You may request to see your form data or to have it deleted.
